Surgical treatment of varicose veins in Leicester consists of 2 types:
1. Open surgery – saphenofemoral disconnection, long saphenous stripping and multiple avulsions. Requires general anaesthetic
2. Endovenous laser ablation of either long or short saphenous vein (whichever one is affected). Can be done under local anaesthetic and may be combined with foam sclerotherapy (for improving cosmetic appearance)
